Bramble

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) gin
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh black elderberry juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 mL) simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves)
  • 1 ounce (30 mL) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 ounces (60 mL) champagne or sparkling wine
  • bottle of ice
  • a sprig of mint for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour 2 ounces gin, 1 ounce black elderberry juice, 1/2 ounce simple syrup and 1 ounce fresh lemon juice.
  2. Cover the shaker and shake all ingredients vigorously until well blended and chilled.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice.
  4. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass filled with ice.
  5. Fill the glass with 2 ounces of champagne or sparkling wine, making sure it is filled to the brim.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of mint and serve immediately.

This drink should be consumed quickly as champagne or sparkling wine will degas over time. Enjoy!
